ی—ye—y
The letter ‘ye’ (ی), a lot like the letter ‘y’ in English, can be pronounced as either a consonant or a vowel, depending on the context. It can be read as either the consonant ‘y’ at the beginning of the word ‘yes’, or something like the vowel at the end of a word like ‘happy’.
In this video Keramat shows you how to write ‘ye’ (ی) in a Persian style of handwriting, with three examples of words showing the letter in different positions, and demonstrating its different pronunciations:
at the beginning, یخ—yakh—ice
