آ—alef—ā
A long ‘ā’ like at the beginning of the word ‘arctic’ in English, ‘alef’ (آ) is the first letter of the Persian alphabet. In this video Keramat shows you how to write the letter in a Persian style of handwriting, with three examples of words showing the letter in different positions:
at the beginning, ‘آب’—āb—water
in the middle, تاب—tāb—swing
at the end, ما—mā—we/us.
